Materials will be gathered from nature, the garden, and rescued from the compost heap. We will have a fire in the pit and some stoves for cooking up the dyestuffs. Bring up to a pound of prepared fibers, yarns, and fabrics. There will be at least 5 pots plus Indigo for over dyeing. Expect a lot of yellow and golden shades from the plant material.

I am so excited to be going to North Carolina to this Indigo class with Donna Hardy. There will be hydros, thiox, henna, fructose, ferrous, and more vats. Hopefully I can get my ferrous and fructose vats to work when I get home.
Join Becky in the Outdoor Studio to dye up to a pound of your wool with what nature has provided along the Virginia roadsides, and what has been salvaged from the kitchen. Expect colors in the yellow, gold, and orange range with the possibility of some green.
Learn to build your own Indigo Vat in a gallon jar, dye up to a pound of goods, then take the jar home with additional Indigo powder and chemicals to dye another pound of goods on your own. This is a structured workshop, perfect for beginners or others wanting to sharpen their Indigo dyeing skills.

On May 31st I will fly with three long time friends to Fargo, ND where we will rent a vehicle and drive to Cannon Ball, ND on the Indian Reservation. There we will work on June 1 and 2 for a Community Day with Virginia Baptists in the Dover Association. On June 3 we will drive to Wakpala, SD to celebrate the start of a Community Garden. On June 4 & 5 we will hold Gardening Workshops and Cooking Demos (what to do with all that produce). We drive back to Fargo on June 6 and fly home.
This is not a Workshop, just a fun Dye Day. Join Becky and several Madder pots in her Outdoor Studio. Lt. George Washington wrote Gov. Dinwiddie asking for "Blood Red Coats" for the Virginia Regiment, preparing to fight the French & Indian War. We will work the Madder pots for the "Blood Red". Bring protein fibers, bag lunch, and $15 supply fee.
